Student Placement Rewarding for Everyone

It was very rewarding to have hosted another group of students from Chisolm TAFE, Dandenong, who were completing Workplace Practical Placement for their Bachelor of Engineering Technology. Our relationship with Chisolm has grown over the four years that we have been hosting students as we develop and tailor projects that can put the student's knowledge to use and grow their skill sets on projects that will help expand or streamline our capabilities.

After the initial project review, the team focused their resources and developed a great working relationship with representatives at SMC and Omron. Honing skills in product research, solid modelling and PLC programming they were able to progress the project to automate the collection of specific inspection data. The project initially incorporates the use of a Rotary Table, Linear Actuator and LVDT Sensor (Linear Variable Displacement Transducer) Stage 1 has been completed; the next stage is to machine the parts required for development. We can’t wait to see what is in store as the Project progresses to Stage 2 with the next group of students later in the year.

This group has been highly successful in their results and developed a great sense of teamwork along the way. Congratulations to J, Nam and Silv
